Hi Ron,

Good post. I've wondered how the old 416's would compare to the newer 2226's. I've threatened many times to sell the JBL's and do an all Altec system but have decided I all ready own the 4648-8A's and will design around them. Of particular interest is running a fullrange driver with a 150 hz front horn and using a 300 w/ch plate amp on the 2226's. Similar to an Oris type system, but using a large plywood square horn instead of the round fiberglass horn. Probably a Fostex FE206E, supposed to be good for 103 db 1w/1m. Then again maybe I'll follow the charted path and throw a (little!)511/902 500 hz. on top. Choices, choices.....kinda like the 416 or 2226 thing. :)

Jerrod
