hello!

i am going to buy a pair of 1 inch drivers. i have three options: JBL 2425, EV dh2t and Peavey 22xt. the price i get is more or less the same. i am building a pair of Pi 4 speakers, with a JBL 2226. pros and cons of each one? which one would you recommend?

thank you very much!

The JBL 2425 is very similar to the current product offering of the 2426. I use 2425's and like them better than other drivers in that price range. I don't hear any difference in the 2426 either.

The 22xt I find to be harsh and fatiguing to listen to. It does not have as good an extension in the upper freqs as the JBL.

No experience with the EV.

Like Bmar said "JBL" is your best shot [message #41160 is a reply to message #41156] Tue, 29 April 2003 14:33 Go to previous message

Pilkar,
You already have a JBL bottom end 15", the 2425 will mesh just right together. Other than if you mentioned a Altec driver for same money, and even then is only personal preference between the two of them, if you were wanting to break the wallet, I have heard that TAD is the best out there. Of course I am partial to the JBL/ALtec combo as that is what I have.

I have run my drivers on:
Altec 811B's/511B's, Edgarhorn and Martinelli, last 2 are solid wood horns which I like very much.

Just take this as my opinion, I hope it helps you out :-)

Ron
