The NS-1000 is a very well crafted acoustic suspension design with fairly high efficiency (90 db at 1 meter really). Bass is tight but rolls of at 45 hz. I have owned several pairs since the early 70's.

This speaker is very revealing of associated equipment and I have had best results with 30-100 wpc tube amps. Yamaha spared no expense on developing and building this design. I think it is the most dynamic acoustic suspension design ever produced in a book shelf format. It will play very loud and handle up to 100 watts of program without any fuss. Image is good in the horizontal plane but limited vertically. Integrating a sub for home theater is difficult but good sub drivers like the NHT 1259 can yeild excellent results. Gotta work on the crossover. 3rd order at 45 hz in a large room worked out for me.

Hope this stuff helps.
