Hi Folks,

I'm toying with making a sort-of thermionic 2-Pi thing with
one of the APT's. Has anyone tried them? The freq. curve seems
rather flat and has good extention. With the Alpha10, the
midrange is already covered.

Thx, Chris

I'd be interested to hear the answer to this to since I've listened to a couple of 1pi (got a pair built too but I got to find some time/money to finish them) and the only complaint I have about them is that the tweeter sounded a little "sharp". It was on a cheap crappy amplifier though (my friend connected them to his old japanese all-in-one crap until his new stuff arrives) so I still have some hope that a warm sounding tube amp will cure this...

I replaced KSN1038 with APT80 plus 3-order (non optimized) filter:
3.3uF,0.27mH,10uF. Attenuator is 4.4 Ohm series and 6.8 Ohm parallel.

The tweeter don't integrate with Alpha 10 as well as piezo do. I think Alpha 10
and KSN1038 is really a rare match. I switched back to piezos.

What kinda music are you playing? I'd imagine it wouldn't matter much on a distorted heavy metal electric guitar (to the contrary!) - but what with 'soft' classical violins? I know this isn't a music forum, but i do think the question is relevant...(???).
