Well today, my trebuchet, which took me a year to build, thousands of dollars and who knows how many injuries, came tumbling down in about three hours.

Non-functional and getting run down, the property owners wanted me to take it away soon, since it's been there for well over a year. With it in rough shape, and nowhere else to keep it, I had no choice but to tear it down. We cut some braces, tipped it over on its side, and hacked it apart with the sawzall. The once mighty spectacle, standing 35 feet tall, is now a pile of scrap wood in my back yard.

I'm relieved that I don't have to worry about this thing anymore, but I'm also pretty bummed. A bunch of retards decided that they were too cheap to buy their own $300 dollar winch system, so they came to my trebuchet and stole mine right off the thing, cable, pullies, winch and all.

I'm really gonna miss this thing. When it was running, it was a lot of fun. Oh well. Good memories I guess. Maybe one day I will build a bigger, better one.

"Big Bertha", 1999-2002.

Hi Adam!

I'm sorry it went. I always hate it when a large project of mine nears the end of its life cycle. At least you know you did it. And we do too.

We threw a 15 pound projectile around 450 feet, that was the record.

I saw it on the Web somewhere. He got quite a few throws before it broke.
There are also some good mpeg clips out there of rocks, bags of flour, watermelons etc being hurled.
