Hi Wayne,

I decided to give my PI-7's with 1602's to my brother, he has a much bigger room than I do, so it will work much better at his place.

So the question is, what to mate with it. He is willing to spend around US$500-700 for the horns and drivers. Can you please give recommendations?

I noticed you started selling horns and drivers, so I told him to buy these from you together with your crossovers.

Thanks for your help.

Jeff

I'd suggest running a three-way, using a 90x40 conical horn loaded with a TAD 1101 or JBL 2123 for a mid and a TAD 2001 or JBL 2426 on a nice 90x40 horn on top. Another option would be to go with a TAD 4001, and run the crossover point down to meet the 1602.

Hi Jeff.

I just found out we're long lost brothers.

If you happen to have a second pair of Pi 7's running TAD ......

;-)

Wayne,

Have you worked up a cross-over for either of the above horns with the 2123h?

Thanks for the info Wayne.

We're leaning towards a simple 2 Way to minimize cost. So for horn flare we'll go with your recommendation and will go with Eminence 2". That leaves us a good chunk of the budget for the compression driver. We'll keep an eye on the used market for a 2" compression drivers.

Yeah, I wanted to order from the tent sale, lots of good deals there. But unfortunately they don't sell to Canada.

Thanks,
jeff

Oh-uh, another brother. My dad is already in big enough trouble with my mom.

Better keep this to ourselves, OK? :)

Regards Bro?

Jeff

Yes, I have a crossover design for this configuration. In the 1980's, all my seven π loudspeakers were three-way designs similar to what I suggested to Jeff.

I have TAD 1602's available if you're interested.
