A while back some one was asking about getting a decent price on JBL drivers. My advice back then was to use your local JBL dealer and see what they could do. With that in mind I found a Dealer right in my neighborhood that supplies large traveling show with light and sound equipment. He primarily deals with JBL so he seemed the logical choice as he was able to supply me 15" 2226H's for $425.00 each Cnd. (FOB). Considering the heavy exchange rate us Canucks have to face when buying anything from the US along ridiclous freight rates, this was by far the best price. So again give your local guys a try.

That's a very good price for 2226's - Considering the exchange rate, it's just about the same as large distributors in America. So apparently the freight and import duties are reasonable for this distributor, or they have a good relationship with JBL.

So if I were able to get a pair for $225.00 US that would be a great deal right?

It would depend on freight and duty. Freight is the hidden killer in US purchases, it's usually in $US, so make sure you convert it over before you assume your getting a good deal overall. The drivers I got locally were freight in so $425.00 was the final price. If your talking $225.00 a pair I would say thats a great deal just make sure the seller doesn't take any liberties with "shipping and Handling" thats an old favorite I found out the hard way on E-Bay.

You bring up a good point about shipping, have you ever bought anything from U-bid? Now there are some shipping charges.

However most people don't take into account that that is where that are making their money. Face it, the price of the the auction can be so low that it is a steal!

I bought three pair of Michaura M55 speakers for less than $300.00 shipped!

Of course I would rather have some Pi speakers, but I will get there some day soon, I just picked the Michaura's up for some speakers for my kids bedroom stereo.
