Hi Wayne, others,

I was looking at the specs for the Crown amps in the PE catalog and
what a little puzzled at the max output power they are specifying.
The big ones are rated at over 2000 watts bridged, mono. Last time
I checked, the max power out of a standard wall socket is 1875W
(125V * 15A). Considering that audio power amps aren't 106%
efficient, what am I missing. Even if you used a 20A outlet and
assumed 50% efficiency, that's still "only" 1250W. Do these things
run on 220V AC? What is their efficiency? Inquiring minds want to
know. Thanks.

I assume these measurements were made with the finest lab power supply equipment, but I think in the case of Crown this is still real world. Stadiums and generator trucks certainly rival or better any labs power supplies, at least in terms of raw juice capacity. The power requirement tables on Crowns site show draw for 220 Volt and 125 Volt mains. The amps are said to be 65% efficient.

Go to the link below and see the manual pdf below the "Specs" heading. On page 31 you will find power draw tables.

When you take a Macro-Tech 3600 or 5000 out of the box you will see that it is wired with a 30a plug on it and comes with the correct receptical to wire into your distro or wall box. Just make sure you have at least 10ga wire running from the breaker.
