Would this driver be beter for the Theater 4Pi, than the Eminence Kappa 15" lf?

Could you take a look at it, if the driver is good enough, would you give me the specs on the best filter and compressiondriver to go with it?

Other than the somewhat low excursion, the driver you got here will probably outdo the kappa. It appears to simply be better built. Heavier, more effecient, more power handling, larger voice coil, will probably work in a similar sized box, although you might have some trouble getting that low end extension out of a bass reflex box because of low Q.

From the standpoint of sound quality, I would probably take this woofer over the Kappa (without looking at frequency response charts or whatever). However, in high SPL applications, the 4mm of excursion is a concern.

So I guess if this is just a casual listening speaker in your house, that's a nice driver. If you are going to be pushing them hard (like I always do) you might bottom it out easily.

Having said that, this woofer is probably pretty pricey. I'm sure you could pick up woofers with similar specs at a similar price with longer excursion.

do you know what the cost is?

I`m already using 4 of these speakers in my new subs. These have very stiff suspension because of use. It`s a PA speaker, like the JBL and the Eminence speakers, and therefore they need to be stiff in order to give very high output and staying lineair long as possible. These are high-output real-bass drivers. They cost about 272,27 Euro a piece.

They give a good low extension in the subs where i`m using them in now.

I`m thinking on using this driver in my Theater 4 Pi`s, because it`s a better option than the Kappa i think.

I must be using the stuff i already have i think, because i already spendet to much on my sound-set.

Please look on the internet for the RCF L15/554K, for thespecs and frequencie response sheet. I don`t have it, and i`m curious what the driver does in a 4pi. These are 15"-es.

I do want to use these drivers in the 4Pi's, and I think they can compete with JBL.

However, I think it's a safe bet that you can use these units along with the PSD2002's or 2426's with no problems at all.

Keep in mind the HF compensation circuit will be different if the woofer actually is 99 db sensitive. Also, at least in the case of the PSD2002, you won't have enough of a mismatch to fully realise the HF lift circuit.
