I was looking through my parts today and I noticed that I have lost two out of the six screws used to hold the diaphrams onto my Eminence PSD 2002 compression drivers.

I had to remove them because they got cooked and I'll have new diaphrams for them soon. However, I won't be able to mount them properly without these screws :(

Does anybody know exactly what they are so I can get some more? I know it's annoying because they are such small parts but they are rather important.

Wayne, you got any extras kickin' around?

I'm curious as to how you toasted those diaphragms.

Was it a freak accident, some wires touched, or a power surge?

Or was it just plain high power use, melting the coils or ripping the suspension?

I like that every part that could break in my 4 Pi's will be 50$ or less :-)

Well actually I didn't break them. My school did. They were from the speakers I sold my school. It was either amp clippage or just overpowering. Yes I know you are surprised by the overpowering, but I sold them the speakers like a year and a half ago and I didn't put an L-pad on the CD (!!!!). In any event, when I took them all apart, the wires were melted in a couple places on the coil, the 'sourround' on the diaphram was cracked in a couple places I guess from overexcursion, and some of the coil windings had come off, they were in pretty rough shape.

I still have them around here somewhere.

Oh, anyway what happened was when they returned them to me to fix, I just took the diaphragms out of two other 2002's I had laying around, doing nothing. So for a while I have just had the magnets in the drawer with no diaphragm. I'm preparing to build a bass reflex system with those 2002's plus my spare Kappa 15's so I can sell it and make some quick cash (hopefully).

Too bad the quick cash means I have to invest in new diaprhams and about $150 dollars in crossover parts plus box materials :(

I would assume Eminence uses American threads... I don't know. But both American threads and metric, in a number of small sizes and lengths can be found at your nearest hobby shop. Look for shops that cater to R/C model airplane and R/C car racers. The Dubro airplane hardware has many sizes from 2-56 to 8-32 thread, and the R/C car hardware (orange and yellow packaging) has a lot of metric sizes.

You definitely must have used a different crossover than we do.

I keep a stock of replacement diaphragms, but I have to admit that very, very few people need them. In fact, I've never sold any at all. Crossing them over 3rd order at 1600 with 10dB attenuators - No way to blow 'em. A person would need a few thousand watts of full-power screaming siren sound or something, and even that would take out the protection bulb first.

Anyway, I'll check the screw sizes later tonight. I can't do it right now, but I'll check for you and let you know.
