I'd build an excellent, world-class system. That's what I'd do! [message #36459 is a reply to message #36452] Thu, 16 May 2002 15:14 Go to previous messageGo to next message

He could always try building my super 40 Hz horn design... :D

It would actually be perfect for the 2226's...

You can get a 16 Ohm version of the 2123 mid-range [message #36483 is a reply to message #36453] Fri, 17 May 2002 06:22 Go to previous messageGo to next message

At the JBL Tent sale for $260/pr shipped. I'm thinking of picking up a pair for experimenting with a 300Hz-1200Hz use. I don't have a source for the 2012H but I would bet it is MUCH more expensive than what you can get the 2123 for at the JBL Tent Sale.

Also, the 2123 seems a bit easier to work with, the FR is flatter up top (from the JBL spec sheets anyway)

I don't know why that falling response is desirable. [message #36529 is a reply to message #36499] Mon, 20 May 2002 04:47 Go to previous message

But there seems to be a lot of drivers that have that characteristic. My guess is that using them in a horn to bring up part of the response would be part of their intended use. I don't really know... maybe Wayne can comment.

The older driver has better efficiency also... just by a smidgen. The newer 2012 is supposed to be lower distortion but I suspect they are both so low over the their frequency range that the parts would be identical for all practical purposes.
