I cleet and nail on the inside just as he has done. On the edges, I use the birch tape, as I described previously.

On the rounted edges, only thing to do is fill with a wood filler, sand smooth, and stain dark enough to blend.

If tung oil is not your choice for this, the one of the Minwax finishes, which will seal and stain in just a few coats, will do well.
