I've run the Kappa's with the PSD 2002's and they sound fine to me. I've run them in both standard and pi horn applications.

I've used quite a few of these drivers, and from the standpoint of someone with plenty of experience with them, I really can't recommend them for subwoofer duty. They'll be alright, you can probably get flat response to 35 Hz, but there are better options IMO.

Wayne,

You're right... I DID mean to say the Kappa 15LFA was the driver with the nasty peaks in FR.

Good eye!

Ok, perhaps I was a little bit hard on the Kappa 15LFA's for two-way duty. I just chose NOT to use it because I found a better alternative... the Kilomax 15 at a sweet deal :) I'm sure the Kappas do sound quite decent with the PSD2002.

That said, I still think that the Kappa 15LFA WILL make a decent subwoofer. Not one with the deepest extension in the world, but a sub that will fit in a cabinet that is acceptable size for a livingroom. Like I said earlier... there WILL ALWAYS be a trade-off between efficiency and deep bass when it comes to subs. If high efficiency AND high SPL is the goal, prepare to have absolutely HUGE cabinets. Most people I know can't tolerate anything bigger than 5 cubic feet for a subwoofer unless its in a dedicated home theater room. If I was building a sub for myself to go with high-efficiency mains, I'd go with an Adire Audio Tempest or dual Shivas with a BIG amp.

FWIW, that is just my opinion.

Hi George - without added source Z your driver would be 8.4cu.ft. QB3, f3~34Hz, fb~29Hz - could probably lop a bit of volume off and tune a bit lower - if it sounds good - have 95oz older Eminence kinda like Sigma with 3" voice coil and qts close - they have pretty good subjective definition in my 6.4cu.ft R-J style boxes but was using solid-state - wish could help on Eminence 15" - only have Delta Pro and discontinued 295-070 Dayton - freddy
