Wayne,
Did you ever get a chance to "run the numbers" on these to see how well they might work in a pi-align configuration? Any suggestions would be helpful. On the jbl site, I found a reference where they indicated this driver was for situations where the 600 watt 2226 is overkill, hence the lighter cone and smaller dia. voice coil. Thanks, Sam

No, sorry. I'm not sure that specifications are available for this unit to "run the numbers" against. If you find a reliable source of test data for the JBL 2035, please let us know. I'm sure many of the participants on this forum would be very interested. In absense of information, I would probably load them into cabinets designed for 2226's, since it appears that 2035's may be installed into similarly tuned systems which are sourced for use in medium-duty prosound applications.

The T/S are in the JBL document. If you run the 2 drivers in WIN ISD they are very close. The 2226 has better low end extension. The impedance curve is much flater than the 2226. Take a look at the spec sheets for the 4638 and 4648.

Thanks for reminding me about that file. I've seen you mention it a few times but I didn't realize it had the specs for the 2035. My copy is an old printed version from the 1980's and it doesn't list it.

According to published T/S specs, the JBL 2035 will work best in 1.5ft3 to 3.0ft3 cabinets tuned to 54Hz. PiAlign suggests 1.7ft3. Response is nice and flat but not too extended, the 3.0ft3 box has f3 of 50Hz and the 1.5ft3 box has f3 of 80Hz. This one is probably best used as a midwoofer and augmented with a sub.

Wayne you crack me up ...you are probably the most diplomatic guy I know......I didn't mean to flood the forum with identical posts just wasn't sure if people were looking back in the previous posts......for anyone who hasn't been there though, the JBL site has tons of good info about their product and sound in general....

In case anyone is contemplating purchasing the 3677's from the tent sale, it has been reported on another forum (Lansing) that these units actually come with M115 base drivers instead of the 2035's.

and ordered a 4638 system from jbl...$217 for a pair of 2035H's, they will be used for rear surrounds, as an adjunct to the jbl/altec front channels. The empty 4508 enclosure...if it will support the toshiba, I'll throw a pair of full range University 15 in. Diffusicones in it for use as "center channel".
So I'll be running those 2035's like "2nd cousin-4-pi's"? Same HF and xover options/caveats apply? Or should I investigate the "di-polar" tweeter configs? I had planned mounting them near the wall/ ceiling boundary, to the left and right of the listening position. Behind the listeners, on the rear wall is also easy. OK, so both positions will be tried.

Wayne, thanks for the data. Sam

I just sent plans for Professional Series four π speakers. The cabinets you will want to build are similar, so these plans may be helpful to you.

It seems that building the enclosure to spec for the standard pro 4 Pi w/ eminence HF makes a lot of sense...can always "upgrade" later to 2226J's...gotta biamp soon!
Wayne, the xover designations with the r1/r2 values...which dB is best for 2035/2226 woof and PSD2002 HF? Looks like a cakewalk...what's the catch? Thanks a bunch. Sam
