Hi Wayne and everyone. I have been lurking on this forum for almost a year. I have a flea powered tube amp (zen se84c) that I currently use with a pair of klipsch rf-3 speakers. I am looking at the theatre series 4 pi's as a possible replacement. I have access to a wood shop and know how to solder so I am thinking of building them myself. It seems like the 4 required drivers run around $85 each, is that about right? Can anyone tell me what the cross-over parts cost? How difficult is it to build the cabs and is there a preferred material to use? What can I reasonably expect to see as an improvement from my klipsch's? The one thing that concerns me about the design is that the cross-over seems to be in the so called critical hearing range, something that, for reasons that are not totally clear to me, seems bad and I was hoping to avoid.

Cheer, EZ

2 Peavey CH-3 $ 70.00
2 Dayton Gold Binding Post $ 17.00
4 16 Ohm Mills Wirewound $ 16.00

4 sets Black fasteners $ 12.00
3 4X8 Fibrecore $ 60.00

Listening to your own DIY Theatre 4 Pi's.........PRICELESS!

Actually, 1600 Hz is at the very top of almost all instrument and voice fundamentals, it's almost all overtones from there up. Whatever, the crossover is really seamless and I've been straining to hear otherwise.
Go for it!

Pxb-2 are the crossovers that get modified to Wayne's Pi specs; the CH-3's are the lens for the psd2002 compression drivers.Right now I'm using Outlaw Audio A/V receiver until my Paramour 2A3 kits arrive, hopefully this week. I've posted pictures and comments further down the board.
