i'm in trouble now! just ordered 4 pairs of these speakers from the tent sale.http://www.jblpro.com/pages/install/4655bk.htm. i figured the drivers are worth triple the cost of the complete speakers. c'mon $222.00 a pair delivered. wayne, any info on an improved cabinet for these babies? or are these good enough left alone. can i build some killer's with these components?

thanks,

george

I'd have suggested springing for two CS3115's, for another couple hundred bucks...........the 3115's have the top notch components, and could be cannibalized for a Pi cabinet.............

Hey Wayne,

I turned a friend on to the tent sale, and he called and
they told him the CS3115's are all gone. So... any opinion
on the components in the 4655's? They are rather inexpensive.

Thx, Chris

The tweeter is a 2416, which is basically the same thing as a 2426. The woofer is a 2032, which is a low-cost alternative to the 2226.

Pe 300 watts
Xmax 6.35 mm
Re 4.2 ohms
Le 0.6 mH

personally, I have my doubts about "how low" these will play...what do you think, Wayne? BTW, the 2404H-1's look great, still 20 left. Sam

I'd say they probably have f3 around 60Hz - 70Hz. PiAlign recommend that this driver be installed in a 2.5 cubic foot cabinet tuned for 40Hz, which provides flat response down to system cutoff of f3 at 70Hz and f10 at 50Hz.

Those are JBL's budget models. For the tent sale price, they're a bargain.

I picked up a few of these to use as rear surrounds for home theatre setup. I thought they would be pretty good for this purpose.
any input.

thanks,

Bill

Perfect. I'll bet that's their intended application, probably what JBL designed them for.

excellent! I also have a few 3115's coming my way. I will be asking your assistance for a Pi enclosure and crossover for these components.
I am going to have to open them up when they arrive to get the actual motor specs. I have info from JBL that states the 2226 is 4 ohm and the hf driver is a 2425 and not a 2426. might be better to start a new thread when I have all the correct info and more to ad about the room and what I would like them to do.

thanks as always,

Bill
