Hi Wayne,

Thank you for your recent email.
I plan to built a 2A3 amp (3.5watts) I have read the threads and still don't get the difference between the Studio and Thermionic line of tweeters.
Which is best for the 2A3 amp? --or-- are both just fine ?

Thanks!

It's not so much which tweeter is best as it is which is better for the application. If you're choosing a tweeter for use in an inexpensive system containing an eight or ten inch driver that performs well to 4kHz, then that's one thing. But if you're planning on building a DI-matched two-way system with a larger woofer, it's a different story. Different price points, different design philosophies, different trade-offs.

Thank you Wayne.

The studio line offers an inexpensive, compact spacewise solution, in which case the piezo device is appropriate. Right?

One more question before I order: With the 2A3 3.5W amp, would either speaker offer more transparency, or pose problems for such an amp?

Many thanks again!

Matthew

The smaller speakers have HF extension past 20kHz. The larger speakers with compression horns don't reach quite to 20kHz, but in all other respects, coverage, uniformity of reverberent field, lower distortion, the larger speakers perform better.
