Hey,

I have a JBL 2226G that I would like to build a box for. Its venue will be in a medium size hatchback car. Has anyone already built or designed a box for this application? Or simply built and optimal box? I ran some numbers and got ~ 2.5 ft^3 but I wonder if this will be optimal for a car, or should I simply not worry about the loading effects of the cars interior?

thanks,

David

That's a great size cabinet for 2226's - 2.5 cubic feet, ported with a 3.5" x 6" rectangular duct, 10" long.

Hey Wayne,

Thanks for the response.

I already have a cabinet ~4.2 ft^3. Will that work? Then again, that box will not fit in the back of a Mistubishi Eclipse, so the ~2.5 ft^3 box sounds very promising.

thanks again,

David

Either one is fine. The JBL 2226 works well in boxes from 2 to 5 cubic feet tuned to 38Hz. I think response from the smaller boxes will be a better conjugate for cabinet gain though.
