Hi Guys,

I've decided to build a Guinevere. Got all the parts except the DN2540's. Mouser is only selling them in lots of 50s anymore. Anyone has any ideas?

I'll be keeping it simple, using the Hammond xformer and choke, 6ca4 and 5687 tubes. I've modeled the power to .2 volts of swing @ 202v. I'm considering using a dual 100uf cap, one side for each channel and I was wondering if anyone else had and whether it made any difference (seporate CSS also).

Also, has anyone tried any other CCS design and how did that work?

Anyway, if anyone has any DN2540s they don't need, let me know.

Sorry, I meant the DN2540N5 (nt) [message #31396 is a reply to message #31395] Fri, 14 October 2005 12:44 Go to previous messageGo to next message

a group purchase...I would not mind acquiring more of them. They are nice to have on hand. I will add that the DN3545N3 can be used for the lower device to good effect and cut your need for the 2540N5 to two.

Actually, I could probably offer you the pair of each at cost plus shipping if no other option is offered.

Feel free to email me. Pentode-at-netscape-dot-com

include your number and we can have a chat.
cheers,
Douglas

if you have followed the threads on the subject, you might not need all the gain of a 5687. In this case a pair of single triodes in the form of the 12B4A is a very good option. Gain is reduced from 15 to 6 ( about that, to use round numbers ).

At least one builder has put two sockets in place for later mods.
cheers( and welcome to the family ),
Douglas

Doug,

Not blowing you off on phone call this evening. It's just that I left the phone number at work. Early senility.....

Carl
