After using your stain/oil, and then your clearcoat, if you're like me its hard to keep out the fine bits of dust that ruin that glass-like finish. If you know someone who does auto painting, use a foam buffing pad with a low speed buffer and fine grit buffing compound to take out the dust nibs and make it shine. Just make sure the clearcoat has hardened about a week.
Good tips. I'll add one.. on small pieces, it can help to spray them with a furnace filter under them (raise the piece up a bit first). This seems to do a good job of keeping spray and dust from bouncing back onto the project. A clean filter, of course.
