That's cool. I love that kind of stuff.I watched a show on the Discovery channel or somewhere that had a team raising an enormous stone with a kite. It was really common sense, but pretty cool too. The kite was large, the size of a parachute. And the trick was that the rope pulling on the pulley system was racheted with a rope brake. When a gust would pull the kite with enough force to move the stone, it would pull it up and then as the wind died down, the teeth of the rope brake would keep it from slipping back. So a few primitive items - a kite, rope, pulley, and brake made from block with a groove and teeth - could lift a 7000lb stone.
