In order to bring my speakers up from the shop in the basement, for general portability, and for the ability to experiment with changes, I am looking at a modular design where the woofer is one unit and the rest is another one (or two). Think along the lines of a 15" woofer, 10" mid-horn, and 2" compression driver with large horn. (I already have the drivers.) I am wondering what I should put at the joint of two units. I want the material to prevent creeping of the upper unit and provide some damping of the vibrations, but not be too ugly nor make a mess when separated. I am thinking along the lines of a rubber sheet (but will be messy over time and ugly?), or felt (but may allow the units to creep?), or rubber feet (leave marks and be ugly?). Any ideas?

Go to Walmart get some of that stuff that they put in kitchen cabinets for dishes, it's kind of web shape stuff made out of rubber, you may have to look in the kitchen section, cut to size and your ready to go for a cheap alternative, and it shouldn't fall apart right away. If it does wears out throw it away and go get some more. HTH

I'm considering separate cabinets for a project of mine too. But I'm looking along the lines of spikes on upper cab sitting on metal disks on lower cab. Gar.
