I am full of quotations today. That is the title of an

essay by Robert Benchley.

It always comes to mind when I have to assemble something.

Today it was a Black and Decker Workmate... one of the junior
workmates. I wanted to see how difficult it was to do a
small one. It was the first step that had me scratching my
head the most.

It's together but I don't have the right sort of hex drivers
to get everything tightened down. I think I know a guy with
some.

Also bought a spin saw... a budget one ...so I'll see
what I can do with that. No routers on deal... even at
Fathers Day.

If you find a deal on a Dewalt router I think you will be happy. The smaller ones last a long time and the big model looks like the old Elu models which were also great machines.

The Dewalt has a vacuum attachment and that is good for me.
Even at the farm and fleet these things are $225.

At the local discount hardware store they have the Skil
brand for $70. This is a fixed base unlike the Dewalt.
This Skil model actually feels pretty good in my hands:
trigger pull on the handle and what looks like a button
on top of the handle to maintain speed.

The big thing to do with the router is rabbets for
flush mount... none of this stuff I've ever done. That's
why I start all these discussions in Craftsmen forum so that
other readers know they are not alone if starting from scratch.
Simple things like putting a workmate together can look
pretty challenging if you are not around tools all day. I think
that's why they were on deal. ;-)
