I see two routes for DIY. On the one hand you have those who want the best quality product you can get for the best possible price, and DIY is definetely the way to go to get to that destination.

The other is for those who don't accept that what's out there already is as good as it gets, and keep looking for better ways. I'd put myself in that category, for while I may be past the stage of DIY for its own sake I still believe that the best speaker cabinet I'll ever build is the next one.
