DVRs have dropped in price latly. I am going to be purchasing a new TV also so I was wondering if anyone had any tips on picking a good DVR.

I'd look at disk size, quality modes, recording time, input and output formats and options.

I always go for the whole look first, because I am so into coordination BUT, you want to check out the features andmake sure it suits the needs of you. Not everyone can share the same dvd and be happy.

We've had a Pioneer DVR from Costco for a few months now. It also has the option of burning to DVD, and it's forty gigs.

So far it's been great. I wouldn't normally go out of my way for a Pioneer, but it compared favourably to the other options in the store and it was kind of an impulse purchase that's working out fine.

I was wondering if you knew the answer to this as stupid as it may sound. Do you have to get a DVR through a company like Dish Network for it to work? Or can you just buy one and use it? Thanks

I actually have a pioneer and I enjoy it. I have had mine for about a year now. It has an onscreen media guide and 80gb hard drive.

I like the pioneer models. They seem to be a reliable piece of equipment that I would like to own. I would buy a pioneer.

We got our DVR through At&t so I'm not really sure what brand it is. We can record up to four programs at a time and watch them on as many televisions as we want.

Dang, four? I can record one which is okay since our TV slots seem to work out for the best, but four. I know a while back I think we had Dish Networks? and we could do 2 at a time but that was it.

I would also look at what connections in, and out that it has available. I always want USB, and the recent one I bought has it, but stupidly its not operational. Apparently its just there for 'future proofing' and all it will do is charge my iPhone.
