Do you bother to use delay in small clubs? Or do you depend primarily on speaker positioning? How 'bout both?

In large installs, the answer is obvious. Now days, you have the tools so use them. But in the little 500 person club with a handful of speakers, what are your favorite configurations?

I mainly rely on speaker positioning, not worth the extra time and labor setting up delay stacks and getting them time aligned in such a small place. But my midbass/hi cabinets are horn loaded so I have some control over the directivity of them.

Yeah, in a small environment, the distances aren't very big anyway. But now days, the processors are getting pretty cheap! If you have to spread out the speakers or if you find a problem with bass lobes, you have inexpensive processor options to look at. It's nice to have the flexibility.

Why would you need delay in a small club?

-has 2 Martin WSX hornsubs right next to dj and dancefloor, while the main speakers which seem to have 2 angled parts each with 12" or larger HF unknown (all martin audio), 6 of these units surround the tiny 8x6metre odd shaped dancefloor which is situated at one end of the club.

The bass definately has a huge presence, and standing infront of the hornsubs is quite nice:P

The sound quality is okay, the tops end up being approximately the right distance away, but the number of them gives a confused sound with no stereo image at all, just noise coming at every angle!

Il have to talk to the djs to be let into the room with all the 'tronics!

The club plays house, reggae and dancehall, hiphop and drum n bass! the last 2 being quite demanding in particular.

Cheers!
