I got some jbl 4871's as hand-me-downs and I am not sure how to hook them up correctly. they have the 8pin connect and from what I understand, I need a tri-amp system to run them. How do I hook them up? the guy that gave them to me made some adapter to basically take the 8pins down to a standard banana clip... but wont I blow them if I hook it up to just one amp like that?

You might try to search the technical documents at www.jblpro.com. They may have a schematic that shows the pinouts online there.
