Does anybdy know what the mod is? I assume it's something relatively simple, but all I can find is "send the amp to a service center". TIA for any information.

Have you pulled the covers and looked on the circuit board, usually Crowns are pretty good about labeling stuff on the circuit boards for this stuff. I know the older ones had a switch on the back, so who knows maybe they just made the switch internal. If you don't have any luck I can pull the covers on one here at work and have a look. Bill W.
