I have owned a Peavey Renown 120W solid state amp for 15+years and used it in band work with a home built solid maghogany body, EMG pick up guitar through an Ibenex effects unit. It was ok, sometimes even good. Upgraded the Ibenez effects to a Boss ME50 and it all sounded pretty good. Got older,a bit more disposable income and got talked into a Vox Valvetronix 120W which seemed better. Also bought a new American Strat. Nice. The Vox amp is certainly more versatile. But just not the response when I want a strong overdriven solo. Anyway, now trying a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe American made amp. Its an improvement for sure, but cant say I really love it. The clean channel is great, the overdrive channel is well, brittle. So...I am looking for guidance to a valve amp that is around the size of the Fender amp, but with a creamier sound and with good harmonic interplay with the Strat. Anyone wanna buy a Vox and a Peavey?
