I have a AD100VT Valvetronix amp that I gig pretty hard with. It recently has been cutting in and out. I diagnosed that it is definitely the amp and not the guitar or cables. I was wondering if I need to replace the input jack or if it could be the Electro-Harmonix preamp tube. When playing I have to strike the strings very hard to get sound to come out and then it cuts out completely before fully fading out. Any help would be great!!!

An easy test is to substitute and known good part and see if the symptoms change. The input tube is inexpensive enough I think it makes sense to buy one. Even if that's not what's bad, you can always use a spare tube.

Another thing that might be worth buying is a tube tester. You can find them on eBay.
