I have a couple of 6V6 tube amps that I pulled from old consoles. Is it possible to mod them to work as guitar amps? I need another project like I need a hole in the head, but....... At the very least they are going to need a recap, but what else should be done?......C

Put a 1/4" jack on the input and a guitar speaker on the output. I'll bet it will sound pretty cool, escecially for acoustic or "pure sound" guitars like the early Gibson models of the Les Paul.

Just received the original (not photocopy) schematic for the amp. It's a Philco F-1700 and has a pretty open chassis. I've never recaped before; it looks like I've picked a good one to start with.....C

It's amazing what you can find on that place. Some things you would never expect to find again pop up there.
I think you're right to replace all the capacitors. That's the first thing I always do when I restore old tube radios. Sometimes it's all that's required to get the electronics back to 100% working order.
