After moving over a year ago I find myself using my guitar amps less and less. I used to play them every day including 3-4 hour sessions 3 times a week (band practice) and gigging on the weekends. Now that my priorities have changed I'm lucky if I pick up the guitar once a month for an hour. How often would it be prudent and beneficial to fire the amps up to keep the caps and such in good working order? I have a Peavey 5150, a nice '67 Fender VibroChamp, and an old Crate SS amp.

Although you could go longer than that, I'd fire them up at least once a month, minimum. AAMOF, it would be very beneficial to just leave the amp on for at least several hours while you're at it.

If the Champ has old caps in it, they'll go down very quickly if they're not used, that is, if they're even still fully good.

Thanks Thermionic. I figured at least once a month. That old Champ I got from an old gentleman that used it as a practice amp at church. Still has the original tubes in it. I don't turn it on often enough, but after I let it warmup for 15-20 minute it always works great!
