have several old pioneer receivers in need of repair, sx-636, sx-780, sx-890. i would like to repair myself, but need help. don't know much about audio electronics.
all lights and unit powers up, but the sx-636 will play for a few minutes and the speakers pop, and then a loud scratchy static will ensue. i have hooked up different speakers and it does the same thing. the sx-780 powers up and plays , but the right channel is weaker than the left channel.

If you have a scope, you can track these problems down. You'll probably need one unless you are willing to swap parts blindly until you find the bad ones.
