I was wondering if anyone could inform me on the possibilty of using a 2000ohm vintage horn speaker with a modern type reciever/amp that usually uses 8 ohm speakers for music listening.

You'd need a transformer. Might be nice to pair the speaker you're talking about with a modern tube amp, ahead of the output transformer.
