I plan to build an array with some PE buyouts. I will be useing teh 269-568 4" pioneer and the 269-782 3/8" onkyo.
I plan to on 20 4" and 30 3/8" per cab. The cabinets will be about 7' tall with about a 9" wide front baffle. Both lines will have some power tapering. The cabinet will probably be sealed.
What cabinet volume would be appropriate, or how can I calculate it?
I am looking at 3/3/6/8 arrangement for the 4" and 5/5/6/6/8 for the 3/8".
Is this proper tapering?
Would a ported cabinet work better?
Any other comments.Thanks

Yes and you will need to do it, I have to do this on my tweeter array for sure, I discovered that when I was testing the array. >>Would a ported cabinet work better?
Somewhat depends on where your x-over point to the sub is, but your still not going to get much below 100Hz. And with the somewhat hi Qts of the drivers it'll require a larger cabinet. HTH

Is 30 overkill?

I plan on 100 to 160 cross for the sub, depends on what the array does.
What crossover points are you using? Sub and mid - tweet. Thanks

30's not over kill you may just have to attenuate the tweeters a little more, I have to attenuate the tweeters a little to match the array gain to meet the 4" drivers sensitvity, so my tweeters array impedance is going to 8.188 ohm where as the 4" pioneers will have an impedence of 6.23 ohms. This calculates out to 99.45db for the tweeters and 100.09db for the 4's. I want to x-over at 100Hz to the subs,which is the lowest point on my old x-over, by the way I'm bi-amped on my system, and then planing on crossing over at 4Khz from the 4" to the tweeters. I havn't ordered any x-over parts yet I'm going to experiment with the 4k x-over slopes. Tweeters are going to be reconfigured for 5/4/4/5 - 8.18ohm.
Woof's right now planing on 3/4/4/4/5 - 6.233ohm. Bill W.

Messed up on my reply below the tweeters are
7/5/5/7 arrangement.Going to try the woofers like in post below
3/4/4/4/5 - going to try first but not sure if I'll have to reconfigue for them just depends on what the line sounds like. Bill W.
