No clue on the enclosure design, but apparently this
kit is discontinued.

Note further down the new model designed fro pro audio at clubs.

The copy says couple behind the new model listened comfortably
but that if a PA were used to get the same volume to the whole
club audience, these folks would have been driven to the back
of the room.

Is this true?

I have a fresh baffle board cut and drilled for my own
straight 8's using the 50 cent Pioneer speaks. My version
is not ready for prime time yet. No relation to the Bottleheads.

Have you heard the word on the street? Do you happen to know why these were discontinued?
Was there something wrong with them? Have they been superceded or are there plans in the works?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Yes, the design is going to be replaced by a so-called
pro-audio rig appropriate for live performance in small
clubs.

Keep an eye out in the Fitzmaurice forum here at ART
for a new TLAH (transmission line array horn.)

The reason given in the Bottlehead forum for discontinuance was lack of sales.

What did you think of the S8? Is it a good example of an array speaker? What I am wondering is if
home arrays in general are well regarded. How do others compare?

I think Doc decided not to sell the straight 8's anymore because of how much time they took just to get the kits put together to ship. These speakers can handle 600 watts so they can light up a public place. I have had a pair for 3 years now and won't be looking for another pair for awhile. I have used amps from 1.5 watts per channel up to 80 watts per channel. Keep in mind the Doc took five years to design this speaker. Its too bad they are discontinued.
