I have used 45/2A3/300B and EL34 SE with my 2226's and find they do a nice job with them. If your needs are for heavy bottom octave bass, you would need a subwoofer even when used with high powered SS. 2226 is -3db down @ 45hz, so great midbass driver! Ron

Hi Steve, Glad to hear you settled on the JBL's. I know you'll be very happy with them. I have both an Eminence and JBL system at home. As good as the Theatre-3's are, the JBL's are way better. Of course, they cost about 5x as much. Attached are photos of cabinet contruction for my JBL 2235's. Hope you'll find them helpful. Front baffle's doubled up with 3/4" and 5/8" MDF. With a rabbet of 1/2" to flush mount the woofer, you still have 7/8" of material to secure the driver. regards, gcl.

hmmm and thanks - not sure I get it but: I glued the ring to the back of the baffle before I put the cabs together. The driver will be mounted with T-nuts / lock-nuts (or whatever you call them ????? ) so removing the driver is not an issue later. I hope this helps. Roland
