Need some confirmation here... if a design calls for two ports that are 4" dia, x 6.5" long, I figure the volume of each to be 81.7", or a total volume of 163.4". Now if I wanted to use a rectangular port instead it would need to have the same volume, right? So if I wanted to make it 18" wide and 1" tall, it would need to be about 9" deep, right?

Make the area equal. Some of the T/S box analysis programs will calculate multiple ports, so they might be helpful.
