What is the effect of a horn throat that is too large for a particular cone speaker?

As throat size is increased, efficiency is generally reduced, but throat distortion is too. If there is no phase plug, HF response is usually extended a little bit because path length differences are reduced. These general trends continue until throat area equals diaphragm area.
