I'm running a 3-way OB setup.

In the current configuration the mids were originally Fostex 208E Sigmas. The sound I liked; the problem was that at realistic levels I would tend to bottom them out. The xmax is about 1mm, and crossed over from 140Hz to 250Hz just didn't leave them enough room (I really can't go higher than 250Hz). The upper XO point was about 2500 Hz.

I moved to the Excel W22EX001 - I said in another post I was "rather" happy with it, which is another way of saying I really ain't happy. XO right now is 140Hz and 1500 Hz. It just sounds harsh - I don't know any other way to say it. It does have a lot more Xmax, and doesn't bottom out at any level I'd dare play them at, but the Fostex was much smoother to my ear.

That would lead me to think that maybe the Fostex 200A might be a good choice, but right now at about $700 a pair that ain't going to happen.

Anybody have any near-earth priced suggestions?
