I am in the early planning stage of a new home system and on the hunt for a good 1'' compression driver for use between say 2k-9k. The top octave will be handled by a JBL 2405 slot so HF response isn't much of an issue. What are your suggestions, both price/performance and performance alone? These are the drivers I have been looking at so far. I would really be thankful if anybody could comment on the stuff from Beyma since I can get them at a really good price.

B&C DE25
Beyma CP350/Ti
Beyma CP380/M
Beyma CP385/Nd

And of course Eminence PSD2002, P. Audio stuff etc.

Since you're going to use the JBL 2405, I'd probably go with the JBL 2426 as my favorite. It's a great sounding tweeter. For best performance for the cost, I like the Eminence PSD2002. I really like that part, especially for its extended frequency response. That won't matter much to you since you'll have a super tweeter. But nevertheless, I think it is a good tweeter, especially for its low cost.

I have only heard the PSD2002 once but it sure sounded pretty nice. And I do not doubt that the price/performance ratio of that driver is the best out there (piezos apart). But I might be willing to spend a little more to get an even better driver. As I said, I can get the Beyma's pretty cheap and the JBL 2426 even cheaper. (Second hand, that is. JBL pro parts are just too spendy over here. A 2226 for example retails for around USD $650 a piece!). I am leaning towards a wooden horn for the 1'' driver, your conical Pi horn for the mids and a JBL 2226 at the bottom.

Be careful of used JBL 2426's, especially if they are inexpensive. There are cheap diaphragms available for them that don't sound very good. The price of a new 2426 is about the same as a 2226, and both hold their resale value very well when in good condition. So if you find 2426's for sale cheap, they probably don't have genuine JBL diaphragms.
