Hi horn experts,

My straight bass horns have been made in sections in order to get them inside the house, and I am putting them together right now.

Although the carpenter has done a great job, there are a few tiny chinks where the sections meet (I can just see the light through them from the inside of the horn).

It would not be difficult to close the chinks with a filler, but I will only do so if it is necessary (the horns are crossed over at 160 hz and are hence only used for bass).

So the question is: Is it imperative that bass horn flares are absolutely airtight?

I thank you a lot in anticipation!

Regards
Peter Krojgaard
