I'm plainning to use a tapered pipe to about 4'then I'm going to make a u shaped section to go from the tapered section( which is square)to the 22" wide base tapered section and fire it into the floorwith a 20" high cage. My room is 12x13. Or am I just worrying to much and just build the thing .Tim

Illuminati (1st Degree)

when i fold horns,i start at the mouth, choose a maximum depth, folding according to that, for midbass cutoffs normally 2folds are enough

Lately i prefer the S style, for woofer access. my 40hz corner horn, its folded more like the labhorn but expands in 1 dimension not 2.

for my jbl horn 3folds are more optimal,no space wasted

see my site.

Tim,

I am not sure if I understand your geometry. Are you trying to make a horn, a TQWT, or a TL? It sounds like a TQWT with the small end at the start of the taper, then 4 feet of straight line tapered, a fold into something else, then I am lost. If you could expand you description a little maybe I would have some constructive comments.

I am also using a smaller room (14 feet x 14 feet w/ 8 foot ceiling) for my stereo system so I have a bit of experience. I have several medium to big floor standing speakers residing in this space with pretty good results.

Sorry, nothing to offer. You are beyond my experience base.

Good luck,

Martin
