The downfacing driver and 45 degree reflector is going to increase horizontal dispersion while limiting vertical, though I'm not so sure that imaging won't suffer as a consequence. It also serves to add boundary reinforcement to the front wave, not a lot, but enough to gain a few midrange dBs. The box would have to have some serious folding if the claimed 106dB/30 Hz figure is accurate, as that would require about ten feet of pathway.
