Purchase some speakers at the bargan shop, opened them and they have electro-voice sp-15's. Have no knowledge of these speakers. Can anyone help. Thanks David

I noticed the speakers have 16 ohms stamped on the back; is it OK to use these with a typical home receiver at 8 ohms? Have no idea regarding the sound quality or handing capabilities. The cabinet's appear old are these speakers somewhat dated? As you can tell I really don't have a clue about these speakers other than they are heavy. Thank you in Advance, David

i'd say you done good

typical home reciever, will usually note on back the 'ohm rating'

i have the 'sp-12', that i'm rather fond of-

i'm shure you'll like these.

The SP-12 was the big brother (beefier) of the SP-12B. The SP-12B was a phenomenal speaker for its day (around 1950) and that means it will still sound good. I used mine in a copy of an Electrovoice corner horn cabinet that I built in College. It sounded just great! I later added a Karkson cabinet and the combination of the two stacked was phenomenal. This was before stereo.

I would like to look into the possibilities of allowing these speakers a chance to be used as intented. If

I would expect the SP-15 to be a still bigger brother to the SP-12B that I used. Thus similar midrange and highs, but more and deeper base. I would guess that a rear loaded corner horn such as I used would be geat allowing the front to radiate into the roomand the back be horn loaded. Many other possibilities exist. Even a Karlson might work very well. Good luck.
