There are two reasons for the price

1. Collectors in Asia absolutely worship these things (very old WE and RCA stuff)

2. Collectors in Asia seem to have just unlimited amounts of money to spend.

My reasons,
1) It's Western Electric.
2) It's a field coil driver.
3) Very rare, since it may of came from Bell Labs when they were messing around with sound in the old old days.
4)And there's people out there with money to burn for things like this.

I dunno.... [message #14931 is a reply to message #14921] Sat, 09 April 2005 15:24 Go to previous messageGo to next message

That's insane. I cannot imagine paying $12k for a single horn. I also saw WE tube sockets go for around $400. This is just stupid.....Colin

I intentionally used the word "worship" - there's no other way to explain it.

I dont care how old it is or the fact its made by WE or is a field coil driver or whatever, I would not pay US$12,000 for it !!!!!!
