I've been flip-flopping between two very different speakers, Linus 2's with dedicated titanic subwoofers versus Fostex FE166E Voigt pipes, in what's otherwise the same system. As you would expect, these sound very different. But here's what I didn't expect: Each time I change from one to the other, the replacement sounds all wrong to my ears. Then, after a few hours or days it beging to sound right. When I change back, the other sounds all wrong at first, etc. I can't help but wonder if our minds become accustomed to a speaker's sonic signature over a short time period and that becomes the reference for good sound. And is this a large part of what we perceive as break-in. Pict at http://fredt300b.smugmug.com/gallery/147575/2/6139694
