Hi I am new here. Is there a way to mod a dvd player to get it to play different formats such as flac and ogg? I have a cheapo Philips dvd player that already play divx and xvid, mp3, etc. Does anyone know if a chip need to be replaced or firmware written specifically for certain models? Any info would help. Thanks

I also have another dvd player that does not play divx. Is there a way to get it to play divx?

You would have to change the firmware, which is usually contained inside a ROM. Unless someone has an upgraded ROM (or flash update) available, this is a non-trivial matter. Basically, you should probably look into buying a new player, one that reads the disks you want to use.
