I am looking buy R2R player for the "The Tape Project" tapes.
I have a buget of $600 to $1200 US for a used machine that can be shipped

Let us know how you like it when you are able to listen to it. I'm curious.

I have a Pioneer RT-909, which I bought new in the early 1980's and have had ever since. I always liked it, but without Dolby, you can hear a touch of tape hiss. I have always thought about adding an external Dolby encoder/decoder, but never did. It sounds excellent, and only at the dead quiet passages can you hear tape hiss, and only a slight touch.

I got a bit of hiss on one tape, but I can't find a quiet spot on the other two tapes
to really tell. I suspect it more a case of the tape rather than the machine.
