I read today that major stores will no longer be stocking cassette tapes. I guess it's time to stop, but I do have some nostalgia for cassettes. I used to store digital memory on them from a Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 synthesizer and Drumtrak drum machine, too. Is everybody here ready to say goodbye to the format?

You'll always be able to find cassettes. I wouldn't worry too much. I just bought my first reel-to-reel yesterday for $15 at an auction. Too bad I didn't know the r2rs were going so cheaply. I could have had pre-recorded tapes for pennies apiece - and there were about 1000!

I agree. You can't walk away from that price. You must have a lot of music that's out of print on those 78s! Have you thought about transferring them to digital recordings? I know it would be very time consuming.

Hey Wayne. Keeping the vintage tunes in the Olds is definitely a nice touch, and I think cassettes are already nostalgic so that will just get more interesting. I used to have a four track Akai deck but I traded it in years ago before I got into using it much.
